<abstract>Paul Bernhardt is an inorganic chemist whose research focuses on protein electrochemistry and copper complexes as atom transfer catalysts. In 1994 he joined the University of Queensland where he is now Professor in the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences. He is active in professional organisations, holding office as President of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute from 2014 to 2016, and Chair of the institute's Inorganic Chemistry Division 2007 - 2010. In 2019 Bernhardt received the Division's Burrows Award.</abstract>
