Burrows Award 1975 Award Inorganic chemistry The Burrows Award has been presented by the Coordination and Metal-Organic Chemistry Division (later the Inorganic Chemistry Division) of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute since 1975. The Award recognises scientific work published in the past 10 years, with the major part of the research having been done in Australia, together with other evidence of the recipient's standing in the international community. George Burrows was an inorganic chemist who lectured in chemistry at the University of Sydney between 1910 and 1941 and whose research focussed on corrosion of steel in water, decomposition of carbamide, the constitution of aluminium complexes and nitroprussides, and arsenic compounds.
