It was established to recognise the distinguished contributions of Georgina Sweet, one of Australia's foremost parasitologists, and to promote the advancement of the careers of women in science and technology. Recipients must have already been awarded an ARC Australian Laureate Fellowship before being considered for the Sweet Fellowship.
