<abstract>Arthur Kurt Hacke, AMIEAust, was Chief Engineer for Broken Hill Pty. Co. Ltd. and after he retired in 1948, was working as a consulting engineer for B.H.P. Steelworks Works in Newcastle, New South Wales.

He was awarded the Kernot Memorial Medal for distinguished engineering achievement in Australia for 1950.</abstract>
