He was active within the Institution of Engineers Australia, as a member, vice-chairman, chairman of Division committes in South Australia and Victoria, as a national councillor and was active on the technical committes of the Institutoion. He was also a Councillor, Institute of Urban Studies, and a Fellow, Australian Institute of Management.
