He worked at the Hospital as Resident Medical Officer and later house surgeon. Suffering from chronic otitis, he migrated to Victoria in 1891. He joined the staff of the Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital as resident surgeon, later being an honorary assistant surgeon. At the same time he established a private practice in which he was associated with James Barrett. Elected to the permanent staff of the Hospital, he served for over 30 years.
