Noted for his work on finding a solution to the "missing heritability paradox", he has developed new techniques and statistical methods to analyse genetic variation to enable greater understanding of inherited traits and genetic factors behind complex diseases. Yang was Professor of Statistical Genomics at the University of Queensland from 2017 to 2020.
