He held executive office in both organisations. After completing his BSc at the University of Sydney, Ingall's early employment was with the Zinc Corporation, Broken Hill, and the Bureau of Mineral Resources. During his time with the latter he was involved in the management of the geophysical observatory on Heard Island. After spending a prolonged period of time working on oil exploration projects in the Canadian Arctic, Ingall returned to Australia. He was founder and CEO of Wongela Geophysical Pty Ltd which provided data acquisition services throughout Australia and SE Asia.
