<abstract>The <span style="font-style:italic">Transactions of the Entomological Society of New South Wales</span> was published between 1863 and 1873 in two volumes, each of five parts. It was the earliest journal published in the Australian colonies that specialised in insects. Most of the papers contained descriptions of new Australian species. The most prolific contributors were William J. Macleay, the founder of he Society, and Robert King. Macleay also financed the printing of the <span style="font-style:italic">Transactions</span>.</abstract>
