In 1920 he became a partner in the firm D'Ebro, Mackenzie and Meldrum, Civil engineers and Architects, and was associated with many of its large commissions including freezing works. When he commenced work with the Melbourne Harbor Trust he was given the task of developing a future long term plan for the Port of Melbourne, that was partly approved by the Commissioners, and then he was charged with progressively implementing the improvements. He was active within the engineering profession, as a Councillor of the Institution of Engineers Australia, and as Chairman and Committee member of its Melbourne Division.
