Through these roles he had a major influence on public health and successfully guided the design and construction of major town water supply and sewerage schemes throughout Australia, that continue to provide on-going public health benefits. In 1939, he partnered with Gerald Haskins and Geoff Davey - the Sydney consulting engineering partnership of Haskins and Davey - to form the major firm Gutteridge, Haskins and Davey (GHD).
