(Raycophone - 'Rayco' from his name and 'phone'). The company also manufactured 'Raycophone' branded radios from 1930 until about 1935. By June 1937, Raycophone sound-projection systems were installed in 345 cinemas across Australia. From the 1950s the systems were progressively replaced by American Western Electric and RCA systems. In April 1930, Harringtons Ltd, an Australian photographic supplier since 1899 and radio supplier from the inception of radio in Australia, took over ownership of Raycophone Ltd.
