As a practitioner he advocated split lamp biomicroscopy and gonioscopy long before they became common practice. Kett played a key role in the establishment of the Australian Optometrical Association. One of his main concerns was the proper training of optometrists as a requirement for registration, and uniform standards of training across Australia. Having been involved in the passing of the New South Wales Registration Act in 1930, he was a member of the Registration Board for 20 years. He also served as Director of Education for the New South Wales Institute of Optometrists and as Chairman of the Education Committee of the Australian Optometrical Association. He was Editor for the Association of its journal, The Commonwealth optometrist (including under several name changes) between 1920 and 1962. Kett was a keen naturalist and was President of the Wildlife Society of Australia for 12 years from 1936. 1909 1947?
