<biogHist>
The North Adelaide Hospital was established around 1884, the first Catholic hospital in Adelaide. It was opened through the efforts of philanthropists and social reformers Isabelle Baker and her daughter Elizabeth (Bessie). Bessie oversaw the management of the Hospital, including the development of nursing training. Among the medical staff in the late 19th-century were James Hamilton and Edward Way. Management of the Hospital came into the hands of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary in 1900. It is now known as the Calvary North Adelaide Hospital.
