Woodroofe was active in the Federation of University Women. After retirement, she assisted UNICEF organising sales of Christmas cards. She established a postgraduate scholarship (first awarded 2002) at the Australian National University in the name of her sister, Kathleen Woodroofe, a historian at the University of New South Wales.
