During this time he expanded the curriculum to include an honours course in combinatorial geometries. Row's research was initially in projective geometry, and later in matroid theory and structural rigidity. Among his major publications, co-authored with colleagues, were the paper "Matroids whose ground sets are domains of functions" (1982) and the book Geometry, perspective drawing, and mechanisms(2012). During the 1970s - 1980s Row was actively involved with the Mathematical Association of Tasmania, which was primarily aimed at school teachers, and played a leading role in teaching in-service courses to school teachers.
