Lilias Jackson was a biochemist who worked at the University of Melbourne during WW1. She received a scholarship on 1912 to study the biochemistry of fish. This was followed by University scholarship which also saw her appointed as Demonstrator in the Physiology department. Jackson published several research papers with her colleagues Arthur Rothera and William Obsorne. She resigned from the University on her marriage to Leslie Maxwell in 1919.
