The Royal College of Pathologists of Australia is the leading organisation representing pathologists in Australasia. It succeeded the College of Pathologists of Australia when its Royal warrant was granted in 1970; in 1980 it expanded to include New Zealand practitioners, with the amendment of its name from Australia to Australasia reflecting this change. The College conducts training and examinations in pathology and its subdisciplines, including anatomical, forensic and general pathology, haematology, and microbiology. Its aims include the promotion of the science and practice of pathology in relation to medicine; fostering research in pathology and ancillary sciences; and providing the means for pathologists to meet and exchange information. The College works with the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council in relation to standards and quality of practice, and accreditation of pathology laboratories. Various awards are made by the College, including those for meritorious service to the College and for distinguished research. The College publishes the journal <span style="font-style:italic">Pathology</span>.
