This was one of the leading sheep stations in the Riverina. After the property was sold in 1927, Officer moved to Melbourne. He and his sister Edith were keen students of Australian native flora. With Edith he contributed over 400 specimens to the National Herbarium of New South Wales in the early decades of the twentieth-century, many collected at 'Zara'. In 1928, Officer accompanied Michael Terry and two others on an expedition from Broome, travelling through Central Australia to Adelaide.
