<abstract>Edith Officer studied at the Burnley Horticulture School for Women and later nursing at the Alfred Hospital. She was a keen student of Australian native plants and grew them on the family's property near Wanganella, N.S.W. With her brother Ernest she contributed over 400 specimens to the National Herbarium of New South Wales in the early decades of the twentieth-century.</abstract>
