AACR2 Taxonomic botanist Kirsten Cowley was Research Assistant at the Australian National Herbarium for over 35 years. During this time she worked with colleagues on a wide variety of projects. These included revisionary studies on Melaleuca (Myrtaceae) and Colobanthus (Caryophyllaceae). She was involved in the curation of the Herbarium's collections; fieldwork; entering data into the online databases Australian plant name index. and Australian plant census to ensure accuracy and currency; and contributing regularly to the newsletter published by the Australian Network for Plant Conservation. Some of the key publications to which she was a major contributor were Resources in Australian herbaria (1999), two editions of Plant systematics research in Australasia, and The CSIRO handbook of Australian weeds (1997).
