In 1998 the name was changed to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. The College is a not-for-profit professional organisation for clinical radiologists and radiation oncologists in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. It comprises local branches in Australia and New Zealand, and the Faculties of Clinical Radiology and Radiation Oncology. Aims include the promotion of the science and practice of radiology; maintaining professional standards; and conducting training and accreditation programs. The Trainor Owen Collection is the College archive, museum and library recording the history of the profession in Australia and New Zealand. It contains materials about the history of the College and its predecessors, and of clinical radiology and radiation oncology in Australia and New Zealand.

Awards presented by the College include:
Gold Medal (which recognises outstanding service or benefactions to the development, teaching or practice of clinical radiology or radiation oncology in Australia, New Zealand or Singapore);
Roentgen Medal (awarded to Fellows who have made a very valuable contribution to the College over a significant period of time;
Life Membership (awarded to Fellows over the age of 65 who have made an unusually significant contribution to their field or the College);
Honorary Fellowship (which recognises individuals who have contributed to the advancement of clinical radiology or radiation oncology and allied sciences, either through original research or by special services to the College).
