Neville Geary was a naturalist and zoological collector who made substantial donations to the Australian Museum. These included more than 2,200 insects, over 170 of which are types specimens. More of his collections are in other Museum departments, such as ornithology and ichthyology. Geary spent much of his working life on various properties in Queensland, being station manager at several for extended periods. Between 1918 and 1942 he published a number of papers, mostly on birds. At least seven insect species were named in his honour.
