<abstract>Colin Crisp, BE MIEAust, was a structural engineer and a principal of the consulting firm McBean and Crisp, well known for his work in the conservation of heritage structures in New South Wales. He had a long association with the National Trust (New South Wales) and was its Honorary Consulting Engineer from 1968 to 1989. Colin was chairman of the steering committee of the Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering (University of Sydney) project: "The Economic Recycling and Conservation of Structures" 1990.

He was a member of the Engineering Heritage Committee, Sydney Division of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, from its inception in 1978 to 1991.

The Colin Crisp engineering heritage excellence Award, awarded by Engineering Heritage Australia, is named in his honour.</abstract>
<p>Major projects included:<br />
 * Restoration of the Sydney GPO and its clock tower. In particular, the strengthening system for the tower wherein steel tendons were inserted and mildly pre-tensioned to ensure the tower complied with seismic codes.<br />
 * Restoration of Tathra Wharf, near Bega, an important contributor to the coastal trade of New South Wales, and one of the largest timber structures in the State.</p>
