The Morton Medal (formerly the AMOS Medal) has been awarded biennially by the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society since 2000. It recognises leadership in meteorology and oceanography, including personal example in research, with particular emphasis on education and the development of young scientists. Bruce Morton was an applied mathematician with particular interest in geophysical fluid dynamics who played a key role in the establishment of the Society.
