 English AACR2 Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules Corporate Body created 2022-11-03 human Helen Cohn updated 2024-07-11 human https://www.eoas.info/biogs/P007121b.htm corporateBody Bureau of Microbiology State of New South Wales AACR2 July 1908 1913 Start Place Sydney, New South Wales, Australia The New South Wales Bureau of Microbiology was established in 1908 under the Chief Secretary's Department to undertake research on parasitic and microbial diseases of plants and stock, and various farming problems such as the eradication of rabbits. It assumed the responsibilities of the Board of Health's Analytical Laboratory thereby adding to its remit questions relating to community and industrial hygiene issues, including infectious diseases like typhoid and tuberculosis. An experimental field station was set up at Milsons Point. Much of the Bureau's routine work was referred by other Government agencies. In March 1913 responsibility for the Bureau was moved to the Office of the Director General of Public Health, and in 1938 to the Department of Public Health. Tidswell, Frank (1867 - 1941)
