Charles Moore was an enthusiastic collector of geological specimens who spent much of his life living in Bath, United Kingdom. He was active in a number of scientific societies, including as a Fellow of the Geological Society. His collection was comprehensive, ever-expanding, and open to the public. Moore published a number of new species based on his specimens. His particular interest was bivalves and gastropods. In his capacity of agent for emigration to Queensland Moore had contact with numerous people in Australia, including geologist William B. Clarke. It was his examination of specimens sent to him by Clarke, that enabled Moore to publish on the Mesozoic in Australia. The bulk of his collections remain in Bath.
