OAM AACR2 13 January 1939 Applied mathematician Robert Anderssen is one of Australia's leading applied mathematicians. His research focuses on mathematical modelling to solve problems in a wide variety of fields, including image recovery and reconstruction, rheology, cereal science, spectroscopy, bioinformatics, fluid mechanics, and brewing. After several years as Senior Fellow in computational mathematics and modelling at the Australian National University, Anderssen joined CSIRO in 1979, retiring in 2007 as Chief Research Scientist.
