AO AACR2 12 January 1942 23 October 2024 Place of Birth Wondai, Queensland, Australia Entomologist Geoff Monteith was an entomologist who has made significant contributions to the survey and collection of invertebrates in rainforest areas both in Australia and overseas. His particular interest was the family Aradidae (flat bugs), on which he published prolifically. The Queensland Museum holds over 8,000 of his collections, many of them dung beetles. Over 220 genera and species have been named in his honour. Monteith retired in 2008 as Senior Curator of Entomology at the Queensland Museum. He was an active participant in natural history societies, holding office as President of the Entomological Society of Queensland (and serving on Council for 19 years) and the Queensland Naturalists' Club.
