<abstract>Walter Adams, MInstCE MIEAust, Civil engineer was Engineer-in-Chief of the Sydney Harbour Trust from 1919 to 1926. He commenced with the Sydney Harbour Trust when it was formed in 1901, as assistant engineer in charge of Designing Branch, having transferred from the Harbours and Rivers Branch, Public Works Department. He was responsible for the planning of all wharves and other works.

After he retired, he was commisisoned to report on the outer harbour Mackay and the port facilities at Cairns, both in Queensland, and in May 1938 he reported on the harbour facilities at Devonport, Tasmania.</abstract>
