<biogHist>
<abstract>Frank Tratman was a medical practitioner who between 1886 and 1891 was the Government resident medical officer in Guildford, Western Australia. He returned to the United Kingdom in 1891 where he took the degree of Doctor of Medicine from the University of London and earned a reputation as an authority on the prevention of epidemic diseases. He returned to Western Australia in 1893 and established a private practice. Tratman served terms as President of both the Mueller Botanic society and the Natural History and Science Society of Western Australia, and for some time was a Member of the Medical and Dental Boards of Western Australia.</abstract>
