AACR2 18 August 1929 1 April 2019 Place of Birth Banff, Scotland Geomorphologist Bob Galloway was a geomorphologist whose research focused on periglacial phenomena. For nearly 20 years he participated in land surveys for the CSIRO, undertaken largely from aerial photographs. During this time he was co-author of seven reports including Lands of the Alligator Rivers Area, Northern Territory (1976). From the 1960s Galloway turned his attention to Lake George and the Snowy Mountains n New South Wales. His papers "Glaciation in the Snowy Mountains: a reappraisal" (1963) and "Late quaternary climates in Australia" (1965) overturned traditional interpretations of glaciation in the Australian alpine country and were pivotal in Quaternary geomorphology and climate interpretation of the late Pleistocene.
