Arthur Weston was a plant ecologist whose interests lay in remote areas difficult to access. Between 1971 and 1974 he worked for the Western Australian Herbarium and his continued association with the Herbarium resulted in over 2,500 specimens being lodged there. Weston also studied the Costa Rican flora, the genus <span style="font-style:italic">Westoniella</span> (Compositae) being named in his honour.
