For over 20 years he was the official vet to the Australian Jockey Club and Sydney Trotting Club. Manusu also made significant contributions in research on electrophoresis and haematology. In 1960 he established Troy Laboratories in order to produce veterinary pharmaceuticals utilising Australian research: within 20 years this became the largest Australian veterinary pharmaceutical formulator. With Joel Margolis, Manusu established Gradipore to develop electrophoresis technology. Together they produced a number of world-first gels. Other achievements include a method to fractionate human plasma which can be established in areas of limited medical services.
