Lynn Pedler, a farmer in South Australia, joined the South Australian Ornithological Association as a teenager and became expert in the birds of the State's grasslands and arid regions. He is particularly interested in the cryptic and less well-known species. His observations contributed to better understanding of the range, status and conservation biology of these birds, and the rediscovery of some species. Pedler has been involved in recovery and conservation projects, including for the South Australian Government. He has published extensively and contributed hundreds of specimens to the South Australian Museum and other repositories.
