<abstract>The Western Australian Government Railways [1] was responsible for the administration, engineering, construction, and maintenance of train railways in Western Australia from its creation in 1890 until 1914. In 1914 trams also became the responsibility of this department and it became the Western Australian Government Railways and Tramways (1914 - 1922).</abstract>
