During this time he expanded the Museum's mollusc collections to over 200,000 specimens, making it the most significant such collection in Australia. Stanisic published descriptions of over 400 new species and 100 new genera of Australian snails. Among his publications is Australian land snails (2 volumes, 2010, 2nd edition 2017). Since retiring from the Museum Stanisic has been Director and Principal Biodiversity Scientist with Biodiversity and Management Pty Ltd, a specialist fauna and habitat consultancy firm.
