He made collecting trips throughout Victoria and South Australia and successfully recruited people in remote areas to collect for him. He assisted Jim Willis in the preparation of A handbook of plants in Victoria volume II: dicotyledons by undertaking the preparatory nomenclatural work and writing the account of Mimosaceae. After 20 years at the National Herbarium of Victoria Court moved to Canberra, ultimately becoming Assistant Director of the National Collections at the Canberra Botanic Gardens.
