<abstract>William Adamson was a nurseryman and seedsmen operating in the Colony of Victoria from the early 1850s until his death in 1874. He established a company known as Adamson and Co which continued to operate after his death under the management of George Brunning. During his lifetime he published multiple editions of "The Australian gardener, an epitome of horticulture for the colony of Victoria" in addition to numerous seed and plant catalogues.</abstract>
