He succeeded in 1960 in establishing a 3-year degree course at the University of Sydney. His research focussed on the metabolism of food additives, especially dyes and antioxidants. Wright served as a member of the New South Wales Pharmacy Board for 15 years and several other State and Commonwealth committees relating to poisons, food additives and standards for therapeutic substances. He was also a member of Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of New South Wales which in 1966 named its research trust after him.
