This provided him with the opportunity to continue his studies of harvestmen. His research gained him international recognition. He published major accounts of the families Triaenonychidae and Megalopsalodae. Hunt's later studies were on the taxonomy of Australian ground mites. In this field his principal works were on the family Oribatidae and an interactive identification guide of this family.
