Mary Warburton collected plant specimens from the area near the family property on the Hay River in Western Australia between 1870 and 1873. These collections, which included a number of type specimens, were sent to Victorian Government Botanist Ferdinand von Mueller in Melbourne. The National Herbarium of Victoria holds over 300 of her specimens, as well as those of her uncle, explorer Peter Egerton Warburton (1813 - 1998), cousin Richard Egerton Warburton (1840 - 1917) and niece Winifred Egerton Warburton (1880 - 1973). Mary and her husband, medical officer Cecil Rogers, left Western Australia in 1887 and settled in the United Kingdom.
