Jemima Irvine was a plant and shell collector and artist. As a child she migrated with her family to Tasmania where her father established a property on the River Ouse. She collected plant specimens in Western Australia and New South Wales between 1888 and 1891, sending the specimens to Victorian Government Botanist Ferdinand von Mueller in Melbourne. The National Herbarium of Victoria holds over 600 of her specimens.
