The Alfred Research Alliance is a multidisciplinary group incorporating biomedical, translational, clinical, and public health research, education and practice.

The Alfred Research Alliance was conceptually formed in 1998 by the Inner and Eastern Health Care Network (Including the Alfred), the Baker Medical Research Institute, the Macfarlane Burnet Centre for Medical Research, and Monash University as a new academic precinct located on the Alfred hospital campus. Originally named the Alfred Medical Research and Education Precinct (AMREP) it opened in 2002. AMREP expanded to include Monash University Laboratories, the Ian Potter Library, the Precinct Animal Centre, the AMREP Education Centre and the Burnet Institute. In 2005 Deakin University and La Trobe University joined followed by the newly established Monash University School of Public Health and Preventative Medicine in 2008. In 2018 AMREP was re-named the Alfred Research Alliance.
