He frequently travelled throughout New South Wales for medical consultations and was a popular and effective teacher at the Sydney Hospital. In his research he made significant contributions to the study of scrub fever and hyperparathyroidism. Noad was active in the affairs of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, serving on council for 14 years and as President from 1962 to 1964. He played a leading role in the College's efforts to extend facilities for medical training in South-East Asia.
