It provides opportunities for connecting within the profession, accredited training as specialist physicians, continuing professional development, and assessment of overseas-trained physicians. Admission to Fellowship of the College (with the post-nominal FRACP) is by completion of the post-graduate education and training requirement of the College. The College has two Divisions (Adult Medicine, and Paediatrics and Child Health), with a number of subsidiary Chapter, and three Faculties. In addition it is affiliated with 51 specialist societies. The College's History of Medicine Library, originally established as a clinical library, has a large collection of medical history items and maintains the College Roll with biographies of Fellows.

Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM);
Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM).

Honorary Fellowship is awarded to distinguished or renowned members of the medical profession and other respected and acclaimed individuals.
