Miller was active in the international mathematics community, facilitating programs for the teaching of mathematics to students in Indonesia, Laos, the Czech Republic and other countries, and being a member of the editorial boards of the Australasian Journal of Combinatorics and a number of international journals. She founded four successful and continuing series of workshops: International Conference on Combinatorial Algorithms (IWOCA) 1988, International Conference on Optimal Network Topologies (IWONT) 2005, International Conference on Graph Labelling (IWPGL) 2003 and GraphMasters 2010.
