<abstract>Thomas Hogan was an Entomologist who made significant contributions to the chemical and biological control of Australian Plague Locusts and knowledge of diapause in crickets. In addition to his scientific work Thomas Hogan ran the campaigns against the Locusts himself in 1953 and 1955. Thomas Hogan was employed as Senior Entomologist at the Federal Government Department of Agriculture's Research Laboratory and as Chief Entomologist for Victoria. After his official retirement, Thomas Hogan worked as a consultant for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation. Hogan was an active member of the Australian Entomological Society serving as its president from 1972 to 1974, he was also a fellow of the Royal Entomological Society of London.</abstract>
