His collection of 25,000 Lepidoptera and 7,000 Coleoptera, principally of specimens from the region around his farm in Millmerran (Queensland), was donated to the Australian National Insect Collection in 1985. It included a significant number of specimens acquired by MacQueen from C. P. Ledward.
