In addition to his private practice, he was Honorary Radiologist at several of Melbourne's major hospitals. He was a foundation member of the Cancer Institute Board of Victoria. At the urging of O'Sullivan and several colleagues, the Australian and New Zealand Association of Radiology (later Radiologists) was founded in 1935. O'Sullivan served as President 1948 - 1949.
